We don't like Cricket, we love it.

2010 will see the start of not one, but two world class cricket ground redevelopment projects. The Warwickshire County Cricket ground at Edgbaston Birmingham and the Essex county cricket ground in Chelmsford.

Edgbaston will be a combination of a new ground and training facilities and office, hotel, retail and residential units. Chelmsford also will see a new grandstand and club house as well as luxury residential apartments.

£30m Edgbaston cricket ground scheme unveiled

The MCD scheme will see capacity at the world-famous venue increased to more than 25,000.

The new stand will provide improved facilities for players and fans, with new changing rooms, bars and restaurants. The enhanced corporate hospitality and events space will provide a new banqueting facility for Birmingham while the changes will increase the capacity of the ground by around 4,000.

The redevelopment of the ground and wider master plan will benefit the city by creating new jobs and giving Birmingham a stadium to be proud of. This project is a key part of our future plans for the club and our ability to remain competitive when bidding for international matches

MCD has a notable track record in the city with high profile schemes such as the former Telecoms building Brindley House and and a host of award winning regeneration schemes throughout the Canal district and Jewelry Quarter.

The plans for this project create a landmark stadium that will serve as an exciting new area to live and work in the city. The breadth of support for the project reflects the pride that exists within Birmingham for its international cricket ground.

Planning consent includes:
150,000 sq ft Of office space
225,000 sq ft Residential property
45,000 sq ft Retail/Leisure space
11,000 sq ft Food retail

Essex County Cricket Ground

Working in partnership with Essex County Cricket Club and Chelmsford Borough Council, this £85 million regeneration will see the refurbishment and development of the Essex County Cricket Ground.

Subject to planning permission, this scheme will see the complete reconstruction of the Cricket facilities of Essex County Cricket Club providing over 65,000 sq ft of space for members and visitors to enjoy, including a media centre, a new pavilion and conferencing facilities. The capacity of the ground itself will be increased to around 8,000 seats.

This major transformation will be facilitated by the development of around 350 high quality residential apartments, many of which will have superb views over the cricket ground itself and the River Can.

Also included in this mixed use development will be over 15,000 sq ft of retail and leisure facilities surrounding a new public plaza area all served by a new pedestrian bridge across the river providing improved routes through to Central Park and the town centre.
