This significant scheme will be formed around the existing neo classical
college building, dating back to 1935, which will be restored to include
offices, restaurants, bars and cafes all surrounding the stunning art deco
theatre which sits in the heart of the scheme. A new piazza area will be
created around the theatre providing space for outdoor seating areas
for restaurants.
Earlsdon Park has already successfully secured a tenant for the 65,000
sq ft state-of-the art BREEAM Excellent building which sits adjacent to
the college building.
The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA)
have made their new home here in their relocation from London. The QCA
employs over 500 staff on site and bring a further 200 visitors a day
providing a catalyst for further businesses within the scheme.
This new office building achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating and
includes one of the first ground source heat pumps built on a commercial
scale in the UK. Other sustainable features include rainwater harvesting
and a central atrium bringing natural light and ventilation into the centre
of the building.
These attributes highlight MCD’s sustainable roots and
help drive Coventry’s aspirations for sustainable regeneration.
The scheme is within walking distance of the main centre of Coventry
and Coventry Railway Station which provides a direct service to London
Euston in just over an hour.
Earlsdon Park is ideally located to capture passing ‘foot-flow’ from
Earlsdon locals walking to the city centre and the train station.
